  1. So lately there's been disagreement regarding teleport bosses and high perches. As far as I know it started on the Funbox where people would say in chat/voice chat telling someone to get down from some perch because the teleport boss "couldn't get up there". (which they can, but anyway) So for awhile I'd been contradicting this on funbox, thinking someone pulled it out of thin air/shoehorned a new rule in. Eventually I brought it up with Videogames while we were both on Funbox and at the time, he said I believe that it was (not 100% sure) Chuckle who initiated the rule and ultimately we agreed that it's fine as just a Funbox rule, but not for the other Texas server. About a month later people started citing that rule on the regular Texas server and once again I told them otherwise as well. Then Kumar started citing it so now it's officially something that needs to be discussed. I'll just bullet point my concerns with a high perch rule...there are many: The biggest problem is it's vague. The buildings and trees on mc_village may as well be considered high perches as they're very difficult for a boss to get to, but they're only 200HU high. OTOH they're a fundamental part of that map. Then you have other maps with 500HU high perches which are just as bad. Where to draw the line is pretty blurred. The second biggest problem is VSH maps have tons of perches by design -- they're not like valve maps. It's intentionally one way the players have to stay alive. You can't just go "Ok, Discord's hale. Everyone off the buildings and trees."The majority of hales have a secondary means of dealing with perched players and it's not just Discord, yet teleport boss players are trying to cite this rule anyway to force players down from a situation that is not impossible. Not even close.I've always felt that VSP has a superior teleport mechanic -- it prevents uber traps and (most) cheap telefrags. But it has made it harder to deal with perched players...harder, but not impossible. On the other hand, someone using perches to stall Discord and even Twilight is a problem...but it's a different problem. It's the same as a 0 damage scout who constantly tunnel snakes the boss or a gunboats trolldier who just jumps from healthpack to healthpack. These are incidents of stalling and perch stalling should be treated as stalling in my opinion, and not some vague that perch is fine but the other one just like it isn't rule. Most teleport bosses have a 15 second teleport to get around this. Twilight doesn't but she does have a stun but more important, an uber...and chain lightning. Stalling is virtually never a problem with her. The problem here is with Discord. He's still the only boss with no anti-stalling mechanic and an ungodly long 40 second teleport timer. So many problems could be solved by him getting a 15 second teleport like almost everyone else. In the end I think these things could improve the situation: Give Discord 15 second teleportMaybe give Discord 4 seconds of uber during the rage (thankfully a stun rage would make no sense anyway)Classify the rule as an anti-stalling thing. If someone's perched and just knocking the hale down when they teleport in and then ignoring them, that's stalling. That's my peace, I'm sure Kumar will have his own opinions to bring up.
  2. Although many of us agree that the rules in general are lame, they are there to protect us and provide us with a more respectable community. In this community we run several different game servers, although I do agree they should have there own set of rules to accommodate the servers' need, there should also be a set of rules that all Ponyville servers should follow such as the No NSFW sprays, all the isms, and homophobia. I personally don't like the idea of not being able to call people fags and such (as I often do off chat and off mic), but if I could you wouldn't like it and I wouldn't like it if someone started calling me such things. I really enjoy this community and the new people that follow, I believe this is something people should be discussing. Many of us believe the rules are somewhat unjust and should change, but like I said, those rules are what protect us. Let me and everyone else know what you think about the rules, should they change or not?
  3. Suggestion: 1. Add ranks (not ranking) to the server. Guest - Cannot do a thing, just sit back and watch (Suggestions maybe). :O Regular - When VIP/Admin/Owner start a votekick/voteban, he/she can vote. VIP - Can start a votekick//voteban. Admin - (Up to you) Owner - Owner of the server, what else? Need votekick/voteban to control the server Basically, votekick - Not longer than 5 minutes (Insulting, AFK, minge....) voteban(For VIP) - Not longer than 60 minutes.(Glitch, Hack, Mass RDM [Killing innocent or Detective rounded up for 4 kill or above as Innocent....) ^ Both need valid reasons. 2.Need active players as Regular/VIP/Admin Sometimes, when there's no Owner around, players minge around, spraying porn/sexual spray, etc. Need someone to control the server.. It's up to the owner. ^Trust me, lately a lot minge/trolls came into the server, after simply RDM/Mass RDM to create chaos around here, they left. Seriously need IP ban. 3. Rules Some add more rules (suggestions from players) (a) No porn, sexual harassment, troll, homosexual, insult, racism spray (or anything offensive that could relate to these) ( .... 4. Karma (a) Further Increase the karma deduction for RDMers/First Blood RDMers. ( For secondary RDMers, slightly decrease the karma deduction. ^ Both affects the damage done starting from next round. Note: I not sure these have been brought up. Will add more if something comes to my mind... Sorry for my bad English. >_<
  4. NOTE: I am not an admin on the TTT server. However, I thought that a thread such as this should exist for the sole purpose of reporting rulebreakers on the TTT server alone, seeing as how it is very prone to that sort of deal. Any admins who wish to construct their own, edit this one, or lock/delete this thread, please do as you wish. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As much as I love the TTT server, I notice that there are a great deal of players who constantly disregard the rules during play, and while the admins are performing their jobs admirably, I wanted to construct this thread as a method to report those who go unnoticed, due to issues such as admins not being available at the time of the incident. This thread will be devoted to keeping a running list of those players who repeatedly ignore the rules outlined on this forum, and on the server MOTD, so the admins are able to keep track of who to keep an eye on next time they appear on the server. If you wish to propose a ban request, make sure you have the player's Steam ID on hand. This can be found, for anyone who doesn't know already, by typing "status" in the command console while in-game, and locating the user's name within the list that appears. All ban requests should follow the following format, where those in red are REQUIRED, while those listed in orange would be helpful to include: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- USERNAME: *Enter offending player username here* STEAM ID: *Enter offending player STEAM ID* DATE OF OCCURRENCE: *Date of the offence, try to include specifics such as time* REASONING: *This is where you give, in as much detail as possible, the offense as possible. Please don't just say "He yelled at me". Try to be as detailed, and as non-biased, as possible.* SCREENSHOTS: *If you can, try to grab screenshots of the offender, such as their Karma level, chat windows, or even better, the offence being carried out. This will help admins determine a proper punishment, or if one should even be handed out.* WITNESSES: *If you know any witnesses to the offense, list them here. More witnesses mean a better chance of locating and punishing the offender.* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hopefully, through the utilization of this thread and the teamwork of both player and admin, more of the trouble that plagues TTT servers can be handled more efficiently, and allow the community to continue to game on without the hassle of dealing with the jerks of the internet. <3
