Server Issues and Suggestions

What if the history array was increased, the one that prevents recently played maps from being chosen again?

It's actually a cvar: sm_mapvote_exclude

Defaults to 5.

Raini or Simple sets it to 10 and instant increase of variety.

That would definitely help with the freshness problem...wouldn't have crevice twice in a three hour span, that's for sure.

That has been done. Nominate will be removed as soon as we figure out how to restrict it.

I'm suggesting on removal for "Slot Reservation" donor perk.

Lots of members I've been talking with this about thinks it's not a good idea.

It doesn't feel right to be kicked from the server because someone didn't want to wait under a minute. It's fast enough to wait for 1/32 players to leave to join. You get kicked because someone didn't have enough patience to wait for a slot. It's more like a premium thing than donor.

I don't use it and know others as well who doesn't.

In other words, it can kick the boss or a moderator.

I support this in two versions.

1. The slot reservation is modified to detect hales, and mods+admins, and won't kick them.

2. Slot reservation is only for admins and has the above.

I think this has been called for in the past as well. If part of the process is controlled by sourcemod then its perfectly possible to generate a list of hales by either passing FF2's 'boss' array, or by iterating over MaxClient and checking each index to FF2_GetBossIndex. If the return value is -1 then its a normal player, and not hale. To mitigate minions like Fluttershys bear from being kicked, hale team players could also be shielded from slot reserve unless the normal player count is over 3 or so.

For detecting mods/admins, GetUserAdmin(int client) might be usable, should return INVALID_ADMIN_ID if the player is not on the SM admin list. Not tested. Alternatively the Admin_Kick flag could be checked, which would most likely make normal mods still susceptable to slot reserve, but limited admins would not be.

Any chance we can get this plugin on the servers? Would be great for Professional Killstreaks to be visible all the time. Not sure if it'd be good to be donator restricted, or just for everyone though.

I have been having a problem as a moderator. Votemute isn't working, or if it is working it wears off in a very short time. Videogames tried it and it didn't work either.

I want to point out something that probably has been pointed out plenty of times.

The map vsh_volcanic_b1(I think is its full name) seems to crash people. I was debating on making a forum post but now I'm kinda sick of it.
I played for roughly 7 minutes on volcanic, and I crashed 3 times. The maptime wasn't even over, as there was another 7 minutes before mapchange.

I know it's not played that much, but when it is it's just a big bother. I almost spend more time starting TF2, connecting to the server and watching a game, than actually even participating. It's just annoying.

As such, i'd like to request to remove the map.

Thanks for reading my rant :3

I'd second that, it's actually been a problem for a long while it's just that It hasn't been brought to anyone's attention. Plus my connection speeds are so fast it never really bothered me that much. There's plenty of maps to choose from anyway so removing this one shouldn't be the end of the world.

I must be one of the lucky ones that never has a problem with this map. Also never heard of anyone crashing on this map. Is this a rare issue a few people are effected by it or is it a common issue overall?

Volcanic is played constantly on both Funbox and Texas servers.

I would like to agree with removing this map. Not only is it very poorly set up, with easy ways to abuse the lava and win, but it also crashes the most people. The lava seems to crash people, as in if a hale dies in the lava, sometimes mass amounts of people will crash.

Another problem on the map is Snowdrop. Snowdrop being picked on this map will crash 80% or more of the server, making it so Snowdrop has 30k hp fighting less than 10 players. Plus, all of those players need to reload the server entirely.

Particle Fixes? I think someone had fixed Snowdrop's particles awhile back, but playing her still crashes most of the server on this horrifying map.

Thank you for reading this, and I hope this map will be removed. Along with Beach.

I've often noticed a distinct lack of staff present at certain peak times, mostly evenings. Of course I understand that they're otherwise occupided, so I'd like to suggest the following:

There exists a plugin that console mutes a player for the remainder of a map if the majority of the other players on the server use the game's clientside mute feature. I've seen this plugin implemented in a few trade servers where micspammers are common and it felt like it would be a good idea to implement it here as well.

We could use this as a way to allow players to deal with people who micspam or abuse their mic privileges (via hotmiking, giving unnecessary and nonstop commentary, or just plain terrible mic quality) even when staff isn't available. At the same time it can teach players that the game does have a clientside mute feature, as may players seem to forget that it exists. We can also remind players via automated chat announcements of the existence of this feature, in a manner similar to how we advertise donations, server hopping, and the !calladmin feature.

Only problem is without staff, people could just get people muted for no reason other than they just don't like that person.

I don't think it would be a good idea, it would just make it much easier to troll other players, and depending on the amount of players that are the "spammer's" friends, they might not be able to be muted at all.

Though it would make things much easier, I just don't think it would work out, giving the type of people who play these days.

Hello,

There are some things I would like to discuss. First one is a new rule cause it seems that players have been harassing others by spraying over there spray even though they are age appropriate. Its becoming more and more of an issue even for me. So I suggest that players cannot spray over others as a new rule.

Next thing we need is more quad models ^-^. There are so many models that we can release that everyone is wanting to have. I am more than confident that the server will really boom! ^-^

About the spray thing, I'd seriously just say you should put up with it, there doesn't need to be a rule for it. People will continue to spray over your spray if you tell people not to, so just ignore it, respray it, if they continue, big deal, its just a picture. I get that some people purposely continue to spray over a specific persons spray, but if you just ignore it, they'll eventually stop.

A actual rule being put in because of it just seems like a bit much, people spray over everything and spray over stuff on accident. It's not a huge deal.

It does seem like that but I've seen 3-4 players tell this one group to cut it out and the group basically harassed the others and then the 3 players left right after the 5th time. I personally feel that this can cause new joining players to turn away from the server if they are not allow to express them self. I can turn the other cheek but new player mainly ranging from 13-20 are not that emotionally stable and I do feel that even a seemingly pointless law can help increase quality game play.

I can somewhat understand your concerns about people spraying over other peoples sprays, and yes i'm going to agree with Aurotzel on this, even if the spray is age appropriate it shouldn't be enforced as a rule to make it where players can't spray over other peoples sprays.

But there is a rule that is enforced if the spray is NSFW/Adult related content and this is where it's highly "Not Recommended" to spray over those peoples sprays because if an Admin/Mod is in the server at the time and has to look over it to place a Ban, it could wrongfully target the wrong player if someone else's spray is over the Bad spray during it.

But overall yes it's something you have to deal with, but if you want to be clever you can try to spray your spray in places that other players can still see it but not be able to get there themselves(included that it's age appropriate of course), sorry if this isn't much help to you. :l

Oh, and yes for getting more Quad models for Donators to use considering that more ponies and some that haven't been used as ideas before would be nice.

The rule for no NSFW is indeed age restriction but the sprays i see are "G" Rated but still get sprayed over even by the Royal Guards/admin and while I agree it shouldn't be a reason for others to quit the server and there are alternatives such as you speak of, the majority of new players seek attachment to their spray as it what they decide to mark themselves as. Similar to the wolf marking its territory and when that mark is violated, it is both insulting and enraging. This may sound like I am overreacting but I have seen this before on other servers and even seen laws that do prohibit spraying over sprays.

You need to keep in mind that I'm sure 90% of people don't treat sprays as a serious thing at all. I spray over stuff on accident, I just spray my spray randomly and generally forget about it. It's just a picture in a game, it's nothing more. I get you want to look at your picture if you're just sitting around or whatever, but really, what's more interesting, looking at your picture you can look at any time, or playing the actual game?

It's just a picture to most people, people just throw their sprays around randomly, it's not a huge deal. If you compare your spray to a wolf marking it's territory, I don't know what to tell you. Just a picture.

Not to mention if this even did become a rule, would it seriously even be enforceable? I mean honestly, do you want someone to look around a map constantly to see if sprays are covered and just straight up punish people for it? It's ridiculous. The only time it becomes a legitimate issue is because people keep whining about it getting covered time and time again, and people keep covering it because they enjoy making others angry. I know this isn't very helpful, but it's just a nit picky thing to ever become a serious rule, and I don't see it as a problem that keeps happening, unless you make it into a problem yourself.

I can honestly see people trying to abuse this even by spraying their spray behind others then whining to an admin that they got sprayed over, i mean you can easily attempt to get someone in trouble over it, it's incredibly silly.

Though, if people are straight up harassing others after a while over this stuff, that's an issue on it's own, and you can of course get a mod/admin to help out with that, as long as it's not purely getting a spray covered.

Please add ping restrictions, Anything over 150 ping needs to be kick because it really makes it unfair.

I kind of wished you took the time to look through the forums to find posts that was relating to this, but i don't think that's the case, so i'll leave a link here regarding this since it was already talked about:

This thread has the answer for your reply and hopefully answers it. :spike101:

Dont know if this is a good suggest but behind me (not in literal sense) are people who complain the lack of mods or admins when needed to catch chat spammers, etc. And seeing as the report system is 'useless' as some say. It's clear to see there is a lack of mods or admins.... So many more frequent mods? Or admins whichever.

Maybe during American hours, but i'm on pretty frequently during European hours. Maybe something that you all should keep in mind is that mods and admins also have lives, and that they can be asked to come if they aren't playing?

Then have more admins to cover other times so people are not getting pissed at the one guy who is bugging everyone in the entire server or breaking many rules and there not being an online admin. Or find a way so any admin that is on can be called when someone uses the command to do such. Yes i do know people have lives and i respect that as they need a home to actually get on anything But the issue still persist.

Dunno where else to ask this but did the EU servers disappear/stop existing? Everytime I refresh I only see NA servers.
