I'll continue to host it if it's needed.

The big downside to Ventrilo, for me at least, is that there's no Linux client, and mic-configuration breaks in Wine.

I think everyone else just likes Mumble because the latency is lower and quality is better.

If this is generally better than Ventrilo, I don't see why you can't replace it. People should upgrade themselves to better services.

I really don't see a huge discernible difference between TS, Vent and Mumble. They all use the same codecs. However more along the lines of what ion was saying Mumble has the best cross platform compatibility. Only thing is that probably doesn't matter to the majority of people here because most of us use Win32 or 64.

I do pay attention to resource usage and as far as I can tell, Mumble uses the most memory and idle CPU than any of the other programs; at least the Win32 client anyways. Only major concern is licensing for TS and Vent costs a lot more. I can get a 50 man Mumble for the price of a 15 man Vent.

Mumble does seem to be what's "popular" at the moment. It does have it's woes, but it seems relatively stable enough to rely on.

It keeps telling me I have an invalid username. Where do you fond your username? and any other questions, i.e. halps, plox?

It probably has characters you can't have or is blank.

Just put your screen name in that box.
