Does anyone hate idiot bronies that put a bad name on bronies?

47 posts in this topic

I hate bronies that are overly obsessed with the show. And they bash hard on non-bronies. I don't mind it when a person just says they don't like the show, but when they straight out insult bronies/the show like this guy, I get mad.

These idiot bronies go absolutely bonkers when people just merely say they don't like the show, I don't want to even talk about the reaction that comes from them when they see haters of the show. They put SUCH a bad name on us other bronies. These type of bronies are crazy. If there was a rainbow dash plushie on ebay going for 1,000,000 dollars, they would buy it. If you have read this all you probably know why they put a bad name on normal bronies. They make others think all bronies are nutty people obsessed with the show that would beat up for posters related to it.

The other kind of idiot brony is the faker brony. These type of bronies just pretend to like the show, they may have all the figurines/collectables but they just want to fit in with whatever is hot right now. He has only watched the popular episodes like Party for One and Sonic Rainboom. The only popular phrases they know are 20% cooler and 10 seconds flat. He only knows those ones because they are everywhere on the internet. This type of brony is often annoying because he rubs it in everyone's face that he is a brony. They put a bad name on us because of the fact that they make all bronies seem ignorant and snotty.

Any of you hate these type of bronies?

Yes.

As with all groups, the most negative people in it tend to be the loudest and cause outsiders to get the wrong impression.

Yeah, most non-bronies at the moment think we are obsessed, snotty, crazy, nut jobs that have debates in Toys R Us on who is best pony.

When we are really like most people who like shows, like people who enjoy Spongebob. Its a show for kids but it's funny

i always get annoyed with the really vocal minority. now, i don't want to offend anypony, but an example would be the gays that go out and parade about how they are gay. it's called modesty. keep it in your group and don't try to forceably expand the group. i know i'll probably get some hate for saying that but i did and that's how it's going to stay. i know some perfectly nice gay guys that keep to themselves and don't go parading it around. partially because they'd probably get picked on, but that's beside the point. the most vocal minority is almost always the minority that gives the majority a bad name. case closed.

I don't mind the parades so much. If you're that passionate for the cause then go ahead and have fun with it an start a parade. That's pretty much what parades are for. I just hate gay people who overdo being gay in the everyday life. I've collected a ton of gay friends in my time, but one of particular note is this one feller who had to MAKE SURE that everyone knew he was gay. Me, him and some others were hanging out after eating dinner at this meetup one night and while hanging in the parking lot catching up, some college girl was strolling by with her dog. Well we engaged in conversation with her and were talking about various things when the feller in question blurted out that he was gay and just wanted to make that clear. For absolutely no reason at all. Bloody weirdo.

Boy, there sure is alot of hate in this thread.

Sure, those super obsessed bronies who nearly treats it as a religion and "smites the non belivers" are annoying as hell and the "posers" can be too, but remember that everyone is different. Some of the "poser bronies" might actually be insecure people who wish to join in on the brony community's fun but have the bad disadventage of not enjoying the show. Hell, in that period of time where I still though all episodes were like the intro of Swarm of The Century I nearly decided to become a poser brony myself just to have a nice community to hang out with, but I realised that I didn't want to be "that guy", and seeing this thread I am glad I managed to turn into a "real brony" before I joined in on the community.

Also about the whole "pushing it down in your throat" thing, I never understood why people though it were so bad with parades, badges and such. As long as there is no serious atempts to convert people against their will or posting of pornograpich material I don't see why it is considered so offensive that someone would like to show off their subculture.

Or, if TL;DR:

Love and tollerate, everyone is different and nothing is black and white.

Parades, etc, are different from daily life. Those are all fine. What I find odd are people who define themselves by their sexual preference. A person should be more than that. I don't walk up to people and introduce myself, "Hi. I'm Alex, and I'm a lesbian." There are people that do, and it boggles my mind. Much the same as people who define themselves by their bronyism. They flaunt their bronyism unnecessarily, and when that is rejected, then they feel they themselves have been rejected and drama follows.

And it's not limited to ponies or sexual preference. I see the same thing in politics, and religion.

Boy, there sure is alot of hate in this thread.

I have seen this way too many times. There are always bad parts in any community, and I would say that the brony community is without a doubt the best I have ever been a part of. The majority of the people are friendly, and there are very few that I actually dislike (the so called "idiot bronies") which is quite rare to see in most communities. There always seems to be more hate threads then love threads, and in a community as great as the brony community it really does boggle the mind.

Also about the whole "pushing it down in your throat" thing, I never understood why people though it were so bad with parades, badges and such. This. One thing that I do actually hate are the bronies that: try and force it upon other people, attempt to convert non-bronies (different to recommending) and have a huge obsession with it and parade it everywhere because of it. Another thing I hate about the brony community are threads like this, pointing out the bad parts of our community, when there are very few threads actually expressing the good parts of the community.

So yeah, there are bronies that give us a bad name, as a former /b/tard and brony hater I have seen it many times, but there are a lot more good people then bad. Unfortunately they ruin the community image, but does it really matter what other people think of us?

It probably have something to do with wanting to fit in and be a part of something bigger I would say, or as a way to show that they are more than just a gray piece of clay in a society that consists of alot of said clay people. Basically to have something to be proud of and perhaps to find friends with the same interest/orientation/political view/etc. etc.

Good point. Let's fix that.

I guess I find them annoying, but I wouldn't hate them. There are zealous infamous fans of anything.

Whether it be "tourny-tards" of certain video games or "wee-a-boos" in society, everything is labeled bad due to the crazy minority of a group.

What can you do?

Haters gonna hate~

I'm just glad to be fortunate enough to not have had any interactions (that I know of) with either the overzealous or the posers. Everypony here seems pretty decent.

In my opinion. The hub for the bronies with the most idiocy...is equestria daily.

Well if it weren't for the fact that half the people that post there nowadays regularly try to get first post all the time. Those same people generally like to overreact and abuse their ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE keys. I think it actually got worse when anon comments were banned; the anons there actually provoked some good discussions.

Also, being crazy under a username in some thread on the internet is more common than doing it in real life, under your own name and image.
